Baiduri Bank successfully concluded the tenth edition of its annual flagship Ramadhan corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Baiduri Gives Back This Ramadhan, with more than 60 families from all four districts benefiting from the programme this year.
As with previous editions, this month-long initiative aimed to ease financial burdens and bring comfort and joy to deserving families during the holy month of Ramadhan. This year’s programme placed a strong emphasis on collaboration with community organisations, ensuring that support reached families who needed it most.
Families participating in the initiative were identified through three strategic community partners. In the Temburong district, recipients were identified by the Brunei Red Crescent, a voluntary humanitarian organisation, while in the Tutong district, the recipients were clients of La Vida Bhd, a not-for-profit company dedicated in serving underprivileged individuals and individuals with special needs.
For the Belait and Brunei-Muara districts, Baiduri Bank partnered with SMARTER Brunei, an non-governmental organisation focusing on education, intervention, advocacy and employment for individuals with autism, to identify the recipients. Through these partnerships, Baiduri Bank was able to extend meaningful and targeted support while strengthening ties with organisations deeply embedded in their respective communities.
Throughout the programme, participating families were treated to personalised shopping experiences followed by iftar, creating opportunities for shared moments of relief, dignity, and togetherness during Ramadhan.
To ensure families could participate comfortably and safely, Boustead Sdn Bhd (Nissan) and QAF Auto Sdn Bhd (BMW and MINI) supported the initiative as logistics partners, providing transportation solutions for the families. Their contribution added a layer of convenience that helped ease the physical and logistical burden on beneficiaries and contributed to the smooth execution of the programme.
Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, who led two of the programme’s events, said: “Baiduri Gives Back This Ramadhan has always been about standing shoulder to shoulder with our communities, and this year’s partnerships truly reflect that spirit. We are very grateful for the relationship we’ve built with Brunei Red Crescent, La Vida Bhd, and SMARTER Brunei for working closely with us to ensure that our support reaches those who genuinely need it.”
He added: “We are also thankful to our logistics partners, QAF Auto and Boustead, whose support made participation easier for the families we served. When organisations come together with shared purpose and empathy, the impact can be both meaningful and lasting.”
Ng Yick Wei, Head of Group Strategic Marketing and Communications said: “Collaboration remains central to Baiduri Bank’s CSR approach, noting that partnerships with community organisations help ensure initiatives are relevant, inclusive, and responsive to real needs on the ground.”
Also present at the events were several members of Baiduri Bank’s Management Committee, including Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration; Chris Ang, Head of Group Finance Division; Lim Kian Chiong, Head of Retail Banking; Leonard Lee, Head of Corporate Banking; Ak Nor Muhammad Nizam Pg Hj Tengah, Head of Institutional Banking; and Stephen Nelson, Head of Internal Audit.
The initiative was also made possible through the strong internal support through Baiduri Cares, the Bank’s employee volunteering programme. More than 120 volunteers from Baiduri Bank Group contributed their time and effort across the districts, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to community engagement and impact.
Since its inception, Baiduri Gives Back This Ramadhan has grown into one of Baiduri Bank’s most prolific CSR initiatives, bringing together employees, community as well as corporate partners, to uplift communities during Ramadhan.
