Baiduri Bank Group held its annual blood donation drive in collaboration with The Blood Donation Centre of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital on Wednesday, 1 October 2025. The event took place at the Baiduri Community Space at the Baiduri Bank Headquarters.
This year, more than 160 participants, including employees of Baiduri Bank Group and members of the public, came together to donate blood in support of replenishing the low blood supplies at the National Blood Bank in RIPAS Hospital.
As in previous years, the blood donation drive was spearheaded by the apprentices from the Baiduri Bank Graduate Apprenticeship Programme (GAP), who began their six-month journey with the Bank in June. Under the mentorship of their colleagues, the apprentices were responsible for planning and coordinating the event, working closely with RIPAS Hospital and event partners to ensure its success.
The GAP programme is designed to equip young graduates with essential skills, industry exposure, and practical experience, helping to build their confidence and enhance their employability as they transition into the workforce. By leading projects such as the blood donation drive, apprentices are able to put their learning into practice, strengthening their professional development while giving back to the community.
This year’s drive was led by apprentices Fara Nadhia binti Salleh and Samantha Yong Kah Ying, who highlighted that teamwork and collaboration were key to the event’s success.
Reflecting on the experience, Fara said, “Leading this year’s blood donation drive has been a truly rewarding experience. Seeing colleagues and members of the public come together for a shared purpose was inspiring, and it reinforced how teamwork and community spirit can create a meaningful impact.”
In addition to donating blood to help save lives, participants also underwent a brief health check, including assessments of vital signs such as pulse, blood pressure, body temperature, and hemoglobin levels. These preliminary screenings can sometimes uncover underlying health conditions, offering an additional benefit to donors.
Manuel Bulens, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Consumer Banking, and Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration, were among those who participated in the blood donation drive. The event also featured a selection of local vendors, which participants were able to explore in addition to the blood donation activities.
The annual blood donation drive continues to be a meaningful platform for employees and the community to come together in support of a vital cause, reflecting the shared spirit of care and compassion that defines the event each year.
