Baiduri Bank presented the top five Mengalinga ‘Highflyers’ with grants in recognition of their impactful contributions throughout 2023 at the opening of Day of Action at the Youth Hub, Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, 10th December 2023.

Present as Guest of Honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II.

Also present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Business Development of Baiduri Bank, who presented the Highflyer awards, said: “Volunteering is the cornerstone of community development. Through these microgrants we are acknowledging their outstanding efforts and empowering these organisations to continue their invaluable work, sowing the seeds for sustainable collective impact.”

Green Brunei – a youth-led platform that promotes environmental sustainability through education, conservation and advocacy – topped the Highflyer leaderboard and received BND1,500 from Baiduri Bank.

The Young Professionals Network Brunei (YPNBrunei), an avid advocate of employability and empowerment through youth leadership received BND1,250 for coming in second.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports volunteering task force, Sukarelawan Belia COVID-19, were granted BND1,000 for third.

In fourth, Youth Council Brunei (MBB), whose vision is to develop future-ready youth who are committed to realising Wawasan Brunei 2035, received BND750.

Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School – the only school to make the leaderboard – received BND500.

As strategic partner of the government initiative – Mengalinga – Baiduri Bank, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, hosted a virtual workshop by Nextacloud – the app’s developers – on how to use the app as an individual seeking more volunteering opportunities or as an organisation wanting to secure volunteers.

The workshop was broadcasted online to all four districts – the Youth Hub, National Stadium in Brunei-Muara and the Youth Centres in Tutong, Kuala Belait and Temburong – after the opening ceremony for Day of Action.
