Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports and Baiduri Bank launch Mengalinga during Mini Youth Day
07 August 2021

With a mission to enrich, empower and engage the communities in a responsible and sustainable way, Baiduri Bank has supported a number of initiatives in the country through a variety of ways, be it via sponsorship or through volunteers or a combination of both.

Today marked another Corporate Social Responsibility milestone for Baiduri Bank as it saw the launch of Mengalinga, the nation’s native mobile application platform for volunteers to participate in events organised by companies, organisations and non-government organisations, and for organisers to call out for volunteers for their events. The app is the product of the Bank’s partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, which was inked during a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony in April 2021.

The Mengalinga app was launched by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saiffuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, during the 16th National Youth Day celebration at ICC, Berakas.

Also present at the launch was Yang Berhormat Major General (R) Amin Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Speaking on the launch of the app, Mr Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank said, “We are honoured to be able to support the development of the app as the Strategic Partner. This partnership with the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports has been in the works since November last year. We are very happy to see the app come to fruition at this special event.”

He also said, “The app was developed through a whole-of-nation approach where the government sector, private sector, education institution and a local developer were involved. I would like to thank the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for the opportunity to be a partner in this momentous occasion, the talented team at Nextacloud for making the app a reality as well as Universiti Teknologi Brunei for their valuable input in the initial concept development phase.”

Also present was Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Deputy CEO (Business Development) and Manuel Bulens, Deputy CEO (Compliance, Corporate Governance and Legal Advisory).

Mengalinga is now available for download from Google Play and will be available on the App Store soon.
