NOURISHING COMMUNITIES: BAIDURI BANK HOSTS SECOND SUCCESSFUL ‘BUAT AND BAGI’ EVENT
26 March 2025

Baiduri Bank, through its Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI), recently hosted the second edition of Buat and Bagi. Organised in collaboration with The Culinary School at Laksamana College of Business (LCB), the Ministry of Health (MOH), and Jabatan Pembangunan Masyarakat (JAPEM), the initiative aimed to provide nutritious meals to those in need during the holy month of Ramadhan.

Over three days, Baiduri Bank employees and LCB culinary students collaborated to prepare and distribute 500 wholesome meals to various recipients, embodying the Bank Group's core values of trustworthiness, inclusivity, empathy, and an enterprising spirit. This initiative, fully funded through the generous contributions of individual employees, demonstrated their deep sense of social responsibility and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

Leading the initiative, Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, was joined by members of the Bank’s management committee. Together, they led a team of 80 Baiduri Bank employees in packing and delivering meals to patients and frontline employees at RIPAS Hospital, including those in the Psychiatry, Paediatric, and Emergency Departments. Awang Muhammad Aziman bin Awang Nasir, Deputy CEO at RIPAS Hospital; Dr Hjh Riamiza Natalie binti Hj Momin, Deputy Medical Superintendent at RIPAS Hospital; and Pg Dr Hjh Fariza Suriyani binti Pg Dato Paduka Hj Sani, Head of the Psychiatry Department, were also present to receive the donation.

Reflecting on the initiative, Ti Eng Hui shared, “Buat and Bagi is a testament to the power of collective action in creating a positive impact. Beyond providing meals, this initiative reflects our dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve and strengthening our connection with the community.”

Simon M. Lynch, Head of The Culinary School at Laksamana College of Business, added, “This initiative is more than just a charity event; it is an opportunity for our students to engage with the community and apply their learning to a meaningful cause. We are honoured to continue working with Baiduri Bank in a collaboration that fosters a shared commitment to creating a lasting and positive impact.”

An additional 250 meals were distributed to the wider community, including residents and staff of JAPEM’s Kompleks Rumah Kebajikan, as well as congregants at Masjid Pekan Tutong, Masjid Sufri Bolkiah Burung Pingai, and Masjid Pehin Dato Imam Hj Abdul Mokti (Kampong Ayer) for iftar. Pg Azaleen Pg Dato Hj Mustapha, Deputy CEO of Group Treasury and Institutional Banking at Baiduri Bank, along with other management committee members and employees, represented the Bank in making these donations.

To mark the collaboration, Baiduri Bank presented Laksamana College of Business with a token of appreciation in recognition of their support.

With a strong focus on community service, Baiduri Bank’s Employee Wellness Initiative looks forward to future partnerships that drive meaningful change and contribute to the well-being of the community.
