After five days of qualifying, the stage is set for the grand finale of the Baiduri Masters 2025. The top 12 men’s golfers have emerged from a field of fierce competition, each earning their shot at the coveted Green Jacket and Challenge Trophy in today’s final playoff round at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club.
Bryan Chiew’s opening round performance still stands as the tournament’s gold standard. Close behind, Marcel Leong and AK Md Syakir Pg Hj Alli share second, with Suhaimi Ibrahim and Lim Beng Keat, whose decisive round lifted him into the top 12 and secured the very last playoff spot for Sunday’s finale, a shot back.
Mahendra Phagami, Qawi Aslimon, and Mitchell Steel remain in close pursuit, keeping the pressure on the leaders. Nujaimi Hj Jumat, Khairul Kamis, Julian Kamaluddin, and Kamal Rana round out a field where the margins are slim and the stakes are high heading into the championship round.
With such a tightly bunched leaderboard, today’s playoff promises high drama. Every stroke will matter, and momentum can shift in an instant. The players will have to balance precision and nerve as they navigate Pantai Mentiri one last time in pursuit of the championship.
In the Ladies’ division, the standings remain unchanged heading into the final day. Defending champion Almas Syadzwanie Kamis continues to lead, with Agnes De La Cruz and Julia Hwong tied just behind. With only a few shots separating them, the podium places are still wide open, and one strong round could change everything.
In the Junior division, 17-year-old AK Muhd Khair Zakwan Pg Hj Ahmad Zaki holds the lead, setting the pace for the younger field. His 14-year-old brother, AK Mohd Zaidan Pg Hj Ahmad Zaki, is close behind, keeping the race for junior honours alive as they head into the final day.
There’s also still a chance for one player to walk away with more than the trophy. The tournament’s hole-in-one prizes remain unclaimed. Three electric vehicles - a BMW iX, a Porsche Macan, and a MINI Aceman - as well as BND20,000 in cash are all waiting for the perfect shot.
Following the final round, attention will turn to the prize presentation ceremony this evening, where the champions of each division will be crowned and this year’s charitable contributions will be officially presented. Guests can also look forward to an exciting lucky draw, with a range of attractive prizes up for grabs, adding an extra spark to the evening’s celebrations.
While a handful of players will walk away as champions today, the real victory will be shared by the entire community. One hundred percent of all golfer registration fees go directly to five local charities: the Child Development Centre (CDC), SMARTER Brunei, La Vida, Learning Ladders Society, and the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB). Together, these organisations deliver essential therapy, inclusive education, mobility support, and family assistance for individuals with developmental needs, autism, and disabilities, ensuring that everyone has a reason to celebrate when the final putt drops.
This morning, the focus turns to the final 18 holes. The Green Jacket, the Challenge Trophy, a place in Baiduri Masters history, and maybe even one of those hole-in-one prizes, are all on the line.
