WORKPLACE WELLNESS FORUM 2024: BAIDURI BANK’S COMMITMENT TO WELLBEING
03 August 2024

Baiduri Bank successfully hosted its annual Workplace Wellness Forum 2024 at the Baiduri Community Space, Baiduri Bank Headquarters on 1 August 2024.

The theme of this year’s forum, “Wellness Starts with You,” aligns with Wawasan Brunei 2035's goal of enhancing the quality of life. By offering a platform for knowledge sharing and peer support, the event aimed to inspire the Bank’s employees and the community to explore and discover diverse wellness resources.

In his opening remarks, Ti Eng Hui, Chief Executive Officer of Baiduri Bank, stated, “As a bank committed to the overall well-being of our employees, we introduced the Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI) in 2020. This holistic programme addresses mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial health. We are proud to share our progress and encourage other organisations to embrace similar initiatives as a cornerstone of a thriving workplace."

Following his speech, the CEO presented Psychological First Aider (PFA) certifications to 27 employees from various departments and Baiduri Bank branches. PFAs are trained to provide immediate support for mental health concerns within their respective workplaces, fostering a supportive network for all employees. The Bank's vision is to build a robust ecosystem of PFAs to promote sustainable employee well-being.

Since the introduction of the Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI) in 2020, Baiduri Bank has consistently improved its employee well-being score each year. The most recent 2024 survey highlights a notable accomplishment, with the Employee Wellbeing Index (EWI) reaching 73%. This score exceeds the regional average in Asia Pacific (69%) and the global average (72%), demonstrating the Bank's dedication to fostering a supportive work environment.

The forum featured a panel discussion on the theme "Living Our Life with Focus." Panelists included Veronica Chong, Head of Group Human Resources and Administration Division at Baiduri Bank, Nor Syahmun Binti Hj Matassan from the Ministry of Health, and fitness expert Jonathan Ooi from Jab Gym, who shared insights and techniques on how to focus better and thrive in the diverse roles we hold in today's fast-paced world.

The event also offered free health checkups, BMI and blood pressure screenings by the Health Promotion Centre (HPC) at the Ministry of Health, head and neck cancer screenings by Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC), a posture analysis by Traphy Brunei, and a Zen Space area in collaboration with Boeffi and Beanbags Brunei.

The forum concluded with participants engaging in various wellness and fitness activities at the Baiduri Bank South Lawn, reinforcing the message that wellness truly starts with each individual.
