Business Account transactions over the counter

Dear Valued Customers,

Please be informed that effective 1 August 2021, in efforts to digitalise banking services, shorten queues at branches and improve overall customer convenience, all banks in Brunei will levy charges on business account cash transactions, including deposits and withdrawals made over the counter.

However, to accommodate customers making alternate arrangements, we will be deferring these charges until 1 November 2021.

The charges are:

Alternatively, you may also use these services:

  • Drop in Deposit (DID)
  • Day and Night Safe (DNS)

  • Online banking (for fund transfers within Baiduri, or through RTGS/ACH for local interbank fund transfers)

Additionally, to facilitate business account holders to use these services, from 1 August to 31 October 2021 we will be waiving the sign-up fees for Drop-in-Deposits (DID) and Day and Night Safe (DNS).

    General Questions

    1. What are the new fees to be imposed on business account cash transactions over the counter?

    Effective 1 August 2021, all banks in Brunei will levy a charge on business account cash transactions (i.e. cash deposits and withdrawals) made over the counter.

    2. Why are you making these changes?

    This is in line with efforts to digitalise banking services, shorten queues at branches and improve overall customer convenience.

    3. What about business account transactions such as account transfer, telegraphic transfer, demand draft, cashier’s cheque application and cheque book request?

    There is no change to existing tariffs relating to account transfers, telegraphic transfer, demand draft, cashier’s cheque and cheque book requests over the counter.

    The new fees only apply to cash deposits and withdrawals.

    4. What are my options instead of going to the branch counters?

    • Drop in Deposit (DID)
    • Day and Night Safe (DNS)
    • ATM/Cash Deposit Machine
    • Online banking (for fund transfers within Baiduri, or through RTGS/ACH for local interbank fund transfers)

    5. I’m confused with the two starting dates. When will you start charging me?

    We will start charging the fees on 1 November 2021.

    This grace period is to allow our customers to make the necessary alternative arrangements.

    6. Does this apply to cheque transactions as well?

    There is no charge when a customer deposit a cheque into a business account over the counter.

    Fee will be chargeable to the Drawer (i.e. company that issues the cheque) when a cash cheque is presented at the counter for payment in cash, as this is considered a cash transaction.

    7. Will the fees be applicable for new account opening and reactivating a dormant account?

    We will waive the fees when a cash deposit is made over the counter for the following reasons:

    • To open a new business account
    • To reactivate a dormant business account



    Questions related to Drop-in-Deposits (DID) and Day and Night Safe (DNS)

    8. What is the difference between DID and DNS services?

    DID service is for cash and cheque deposits during banking hours.

    DNS service is a 24/7 service that allows cash and cheque deposits to be made at any time of the day.

    If you consistently deposit more than BND5,000 daily, it is advisable to sign up for our DID or DNS service for greater security and convenience.

    9. Is there a fee that I need to pay when I sign up for these services?

    The initial sign-up fees for DID and DNS will be waived from 1 August to 31 October 2021.

    To encourage business account holders to sign up for these services, from 1 August to 31 October 2021, we will be waiving the sign-up fees for DID and DNS, as follows:

    • For DID service, we are waiving the BND2 stamp duty fees
    • For DNS service, we are waiving the cost of the initial one key and three pouches totalling BND250 (BND100 for each key and BND50 for each pouch)

    10. Which branches have the DID and DNS services?

    DNS service is available at our Main branch, Kuala Belait branch and Serusop branch.

    DID service is available at all our branches except Times Square branch.

    The cut-off times for both services are as follows:

    For branches operating on extended hours:

    Daily

    8:30pm


    For all other branches:

    Monday to Friday

    3:30pm

    Saturday

    11:30am


    Any deposits made after the cut-off time will be processed the next working day.


    11. How do I apply for DID and DNS services?

    You may fill up the forms to sign up for these services available at all our branches. Additionally, the initial sign-up fees will be waived for from 1 August to 31 October 2021.

    Please also note the documentation requirements for application:

    Drop-In Deposit (DID)

    Day and Night Safe (DNS)

    For registered companies (“Sdn Bhd”), a Board of Director’s Resolution is to be provided and the content must specify the company’s intention to apply for the Drop-in Deposit service and full names of the Authorised Representatives.

    For registered companies (“Sdn Bhd”), a Board of Director’s Resolution is to be provided and the content must specify the company’s intention to apply for the Day and Night Safe service and full names of the Authorised Representatives.


    12. How many pouches will I receive if I sign up for DNS?

    Each customer will receive one key and three pouches. Additional pouches are available at a fee of BND50 per pouch as per our tariffs.



    Questions related to ATM deposits


    13. If I use an ATM to make deposits, is there a limit and will it be able to accept coins?

    We do not encourage making large cash deposits using the ATM for security reasons. If you need to deposit large amounts on a regular basis, we strongly recommend that you sign up for our DID or DNS service.

    Our ATMs do not accept coins.

    14. Will the new fees apply to bulk coin change and deposit on top of the current tariff?

    Yes, the new fees will apply on top of existing tariffs for bulk coin change and deposit.

    Note also that the new fees will apply for each transaction, regardless of amount.

Important update
19 September 2023

We would like to inform you that with effect from 31 October 2023, Business i-Banking service will no longer be operational, and this will be replaced with our new Baiduri b.Digital Business service.

If your company has not transitioned to b.Digital Business, please ensure that every existing user provides the following by 8 October 2023 through the Business i-Banking Inbox:
  • User’s full name
  • User’s valid Identification Card (IC) or Passport
  • User’s mobile number
  • User's company assigned email address (General company email is not accepted e.g., [email protected])

Alternatively, you can complete the b.Digital Business Amendment Form and submit the form(s) directly to Baiduri Digital Hub, Ground Level, Baiduri Bank Headquarters.

Every user will receive a notification email at their registered email address, once they have been migrated and activated on the b.Digital Business service.

Companies who have not moved to b.Digital Business after 31 October 2023 can re-apply as a new subscriber to the b.Digital Business service. This will require additional documentations to be submitted as part of the application. Refer “Required Documents” here.

Important notice: Our Business i-Banking service will be deactivated soon. To ensure continued access and a smooth transition to the new Baiduri b.Digital Business, please provide your full name, IC, email address and mobile number via Business i-Banking Inbox. If we do not receive updated details from all authorised users, your company will not be migrated to the new platform and a fresh application will be required. To strengthen our online security measures, effective 8 January 2024, we will introduce the cooling period feature on our Baiduri b.Digital Personal web and mobile app to prevent unauthorised access.
